

Bio
AJ DeAngelis is a third-year player with the South Carolina Gamecock rugby team, standing at 6'3" and weighing 290 pounds. Heading into the 2025-26 season, he is competing for a spot on the roster after battling injuries that sidelined him in the previous year.​

2024 (Junior)
Missed the entire season due to a ruptured PCL injury.
2023 (Sophomore)
Joined USC as a transfer student. After undergoing surgery earlier in the summer, he was unable to participate in contact activities during camp but engaged in all non-contact drills. His dedication earned him the trust of coaches and teammates, securing A-side playing time. In his first A-side start against rivals Clemson, AJ scored the opening try early in the game, contributing to an 8-7 victory—the Gamecocks' only try of the match.
2022 (Freshman)
Played Division I football at the University of New Hampshire as a center, winning a conference championship during his one-year stint. Transferred to USC to pursue his passion for rugby.​​

Spent a year at Cheshire Academy, where he played alongside a graduating class featuring 19 Division I football commits.

HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut. As a senior loose head prop, he scored a try against rivals Greenwich on their senior night, helping Staples secure their first-ever rugby win over Greenwich. Throughout his high school career, he tallied 16 tries. In his senior year, AJ led Staples to an undefeated season—the first in school history—earning a #7 national ranking. The team competed at the National High School Championship in Kansas City, finishing fourth.​​
