Grant Howard, a 2024 USC graduate who served as captain and president of the men’s rugby club, has been appointed Young Alumni Chair for the Carolina Rugby Foundation.

In this newly developed role, Howard will drive engagement of young rugby alumni and encourage philanthropy and participation in Foundation events including With You Weekend and the Hall of Fame banquet.

“We are delighted that Grant has joined the Foundation,” said Phil Harris, Chairman of the Carolina Rugby Foundation. “He’s highly respected, an outstanding leader and a very hard worker. The Foundation welcomes the fresh voice and perspective of a recent graduate.”

A native of Rye New York, Howard played 8-man and lock for the Gamecocks and was a Smolka Scholar. He currently works for ANC Sports, a national leader in LED video displays and stadium technology, where he helps install, operate, maintain, and support digital signage across major sports and entertainment venues. His little brother, Brady, currently plays for the Gamecocks.

Howard’s appointment is part of the Foundation’s goals to broaden outreach, bolster professional opportunities for students and continue to host first-class events. This year the Foundation welcomed Events Chair (Katie Lewis ’25), Parent Liaison Chair (Tom Darlington) and Mentor and Professional Development Chair (Danny Johnson ’97) to serve as non-voting members.

“I am extremely excited to re-engage with the team and Foundation through this new role,” said Howard. “My rugby experience at USC helped shape me as a leader. Our program’s culture inspires brotherhood, unity and growth. And I look forward to working with the foundation and team to advance USC men’s rugby.”
