Twenty-three members of the University of South Carolina men’s rugby club have been named to the 2024-25 National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) Scholastic All-American teams.
That’s more than any D1-AA team in the nation.
Only two Ivy Leagues schools (Dartmouth and Brown) and Georgetown placed more players on the scholastic all-American teams.
In all, (NCR) named 1,284 student-athletes as 2024–25 Scholastic All Americans, a 21% increase from last year’s total of 1,060 recipients. This year’s honorees include 564 women and 719 men representing 220 teams across 177 colleges and universities.
The Scholastic All American program annually recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, athletes must maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher for the academic year and be rostered for at least 50% of the A-side matches during either the Fall 15s or Spring 7s seasons.
Among men's programs, Brown University (D1) topped the list with 29 honorees, followed closely by D2 Georgetown University (27), D1 Dartmouth College (22), and D1-AA University of South Carolina (23).
“This is an incredible testament to our club culture,” said University of South Carolina Head Coach John Roberts. “Our guys work hard on and off the pitch. We are so honored to have so many excellent scholars in our program. Their scholarly achievements inspire our coaches and their teammates. I would also like to thank Coach Roy Hulsey who coordinated with the squad in processing these applications.”
