In its inaugural 7s performance of the year, the Gamecock A and B sides defeated all opponents at the Classic City 7s Tournament Saturday in Athens.

Both teams defeated North Georgia, Kennesaw State, Furman and Georgia B-side by comfortable margins. The closest contest of the day was a B-side 14-7 win over Georgia A. In the final contest of the afternoon, USC bested Georgia 33-7.

On the afternoon, the Gamecocks surrendered just 14 points against mostly smaller club teams.

“It was a great warm up. Our guys received plenty of playing time and we emerged free of injury,” said Coach John Roberts. “Many thanks to Georgia for hosting.”

The Gamecocks will face stiffer competition Saturday at the Demon Deacon 7s Tournament in Winston-Salem.
