South Carolina rolled past Maryland 57-5 Saturday to go 2-0 on the fall season. The game was played on the fraternity row field on the Maryland campus.

A solid kicking game and firm defense put pressure on the Terrapins throughout the game and had the Gamecocks playing on the Maryland side of field.

First half trys were scored by Carter Saleeby, Nick DuBois and Tom Brady. In the second half, Charlie Phelan found the try zone and Grant Ruhlen and Cole Maney scored twice. The Gamecocks made 7 of 8 conversion kicks.

In the B-side game, the Gamecocks prevailed 107-0. Trys were scored by Jamie Franchock, Stergos Trintis (3) Charlie Murphy (2), Chris Henkles, Alex Leon (2), Michale McQuaid, Josh Cancro, Landon Day, Nick Irvine (2), Brett Sparks, Brandon Collins and Michael Yost.

The Gamecocks also prevailed in a close C-side game with USC loaning several players to Maryland to make the game more competitive.

“Many thanks for Maryland for hosting us and for playing three games,” said Head Coach John Roberts. “This allowed all of our players to have meaningful playing time. We are grateful to the many alumni and fans for attending the game. Also, we were able to connect with many recruits.”
